There has been number of times now that I’ve stopped someone, whether in the farmers market or on the street to compliment their piece of jewelry when they respond, “thanks, it’s Fossil and Hide”. When I learned that the unstoppable duo made up for the newest birds at the Aviary, I practically jumped up and down.
The ATL jewelry collaboration between Jenny Watts and Karen Horn Smith has taken the town by storm. Their unique approach to jewelry is captivating. Inspired by everything from rock n’ roll to taxidermy and teepees (they had their first trunk show in one), Watts and Smith create distinctive pieces to wear and love. And one thing we love about them is their utmost respect for nature and their desire to stray from mass production and generic jewels. The duo pulls from found objects like stones, bones, metal, leather, and... skulls. Try to find that somewhere else.
After a year of talk Watts and Smith teamed up to create Fossil and Hide. While they only debuted in March, the girls have created quite the following, refreshing their Tumblr and Instagram daily with new pieces. Ready to be stopped on the street friends?
